When it comes to the battle of the blush placements, there are two strong contenders. First up is sunset blush, a technique that creates a snatched and chiseled look, while still providing that all-important rosy flush. This is achieved by intermixing different shades of “flaming” blush – a cherry red and bright orange, for example – blending a subtle highlighter over the top.
Second, is boyfriend blush, a method that focuses on the apples of your cheeks and blends the pigment downwards, creating a youthful sun-kissed glow. No tools are necessary: this look can be swiped on and buffed in with your fingers – ideal for blazing hot summer days, when quick touch-ups after a dip in the pool are on the agenda.

Sporting the latter, was none other than model and Guest In Residence founder Gigi Hadid, who allowed make-up artist Patrick Ta to work his magic. Ta patted a deep-pink blush over Hadid’s cheekbones, before lightly blending it toward the brow bone and bringing the colour downwards, in line with the tip of her nose. Although universally flattering, boyfriend blush is a clear winner for those with rounder faces and want to accentuate, rather than obscure, their natural soft silhouette. Hadid isn’t the only A-lister to test-drive the trend: fellow model Adwoa Aboah is known to sport a low-set blush, as well as Sabrina Carpenter, Ayo Edebiri and Hailey Bieber.
Blending in seamlessly with the blush was Hadid’s signature dewy base. Instead of eyeshadow, the star opted for a swipe of bronzer underneath the brow bone and topped it all off with a light layer of mascara. Matching her fuchsia jumper (by Guest In Residence, of course) was a shimmery cream lipstick and lip liner combo – creating the perfect contrast with her yellow cashmere scarf. Currently our favourite bright hues, Gigi’s new vibe is just the right serotonin pick-me-up.
