Some trends come and go, but for Halle Berry, corsetry remains a red-carpet constant. The Oscar winner proved once again why she’s the undisputed queen of underwear as outerwear, stepping out at the CinemaCon 2025 presentation in Las Vegas in an eye-catching sheer corset top – while keeping things business-casual by pairing her look with understated tailoring.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Halle has leaned into lingerie-inspired dressing. Last summer, at the LA premiere of The Union, she delivered one of her most memorable looks to date: a plunging, long-sleeved bodysuit crafted from sheer mesh and lace, paired with a knee-length lace skirt. The look came courtesy of La Perla, proving that when it comes to sultry silhouettes, it’s not her first rodeo.

In fact, Halle’s love affair with sheer designs dates back decades, with one of her most famous fashion moments being the now-legendary Elie Saab gown she wore to the 2002 Academy Awards – where she became the first Black woman to win Best Actress. Ever one for a full-circle moment, Halle referenced the look last year when she made a surprise appearance at Elie Saab’s star-studded show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, paying tribute to the dress that cemented her place in Oscar fashion history.

Beyond sheer detailing, the corset remains a clear favourite in her style repertoire. At this year’s Oscars, the actress turned heads in a broken-mirror corset gown by Christian Siriano, before switching into a shimmering Georges Chakra design for the after-party. (Aside from her fashion choices, she also sent social media into a frenzy when she unexpectedly recreated another one of her most legendary Oscars moments: her infamous on-stage kiss with Adrien Brody.)
