Last September, at the tail end of brat summer, Charli xcx stormed the Copper Box Arena in London’s Hackney Wick, watched by a host of celebrities, fashion insiders and longtime fans. It was the first in a series of international activations staged by H&M – the latest of which happened on 9 April in Downtown LA, headlined by girl of the moment Doechii and also featuring performances from Robyn, PinkPantheress and Jamie xx (the latter also played at the London gig, following Charli’s green-tinted performance).

The event saw nearly 5,000 guests swarm the indoor-outdoor venue – once again a mix of talent and fans – which was kitted out with arcade games, multiple stages and food trucks serving In-N-Out (an essential culinary experience in LA). Among those present? Stars including British Vogue’s March cover star, Tyla, Model Of The Year Alex Consani, Gabbriette, Amelia Gray, Dakota Fanning and PinkPantheress, to name a few. PinkPantheress took to the stage hot on the heels of releasing the music video for her new single “Tonight”, and announcing the imminent release of her second mixtape.

“Organised chaos” is the energy she’s bringing to her new era, the artist told Vogue on the night, for which she wore a baby tee, miniskirt, tartan tights – her “new thing” – and ballet flats. As for what she was most excited for? “To see my fans.”

And fans were what this night was all about. In between delivering her monster hits, Doechii called out to The Swamp (her following), who knew every word (the crowd went particularly wild for “Denial Is A River”). As was the case with the Charli event in London, the energy was unmatched.
