7 Jacket Trends To Ring In Spring 2025
It always feels like an exciting moment when you can say goodbye to puffer coats and heavy duty layers for another year, and finally think about something other than functionality. And now that the sun has decided to make an appearance (better late than never), what better time to take stock of your spring outerwear?

Of course, certain styles, such as trench coats, bombers and denim jackets, will always be considered spring classics. This season, however, we’ve also seen a number of throwback silhouettes make their return to the style stage. Take the parka jacket, a Noughties icon that became synonymous with the rock ‘n’ roll stylings of Liam Gallagher (it’s, perhaps, no coincidence that Oasis is embarking on its long-awaited comeback tour this year), which has been given a 2025 revamp in the collections of Burberry and Rabanne via leather fabrications and foiled linings.
On the other end of the spectrum, there is the ladylike proportions of the ’60s cropped jacket, a trend championed by British Vogue’s fashion features director, Julia Hobbs, who wore hers at fashion week with a colour-match A-line skirt and top-handle tote. It was Miu Miu that first proposed the ’60s revival on its autumn/winter 2024 catwalk, with prim and proper button-ups paired with matchy-matchy bottoms and patent Mary Janes. And while it certainly lends itself to a twinset moment, this jacket can also take on a contemporary twist with a pair of slouchy jeans and sneakers.
Then there’s the Phoebe Philo-effect – a long-standing fashion phenomenon that began during the designer’s tenure at Chloe, then subsequently Celine – and for 2025 it manifested in a funnel-neck jacket, a motif which featured heavily in Philo’s first eponymous collection, back in 2023. 17 months later and high-necked jackets are flooding the market, rendered in everything from sturdy leathers to textural wools. Perfect for shielding yourself against chilly spring gusts – and unwanted social interactions.
