Well, here we are. Two months (or eight and a half hours) later and the third season of The White Lotus has finally come to an end. There was blood, there was coconut milk, there was Lorazepam, and there were… lots and lots of questions.
While historically creator Mike White has, in previous seasons, tended to tie up the threads presented in the earlier episodes, this season left quite a few of them untied. Maybe they were red herrings, maybe they were the result of certain episodes being cut, or maybe, I don’t know, we’re supposed to look – or glare – between the lines. Whether you found this frustrating or not will probably depend on how you viewed the season as a whole (it was definitely divisive). Either way, I have a long list of questions I’d like to personally ask Mr White. Without wasting any more time:
- Why did Victoria act so weird towards Kate over breakfast?
- Why didn’t Victoria clock that Timothy was off his face on Lorazepam?
- Why did Timothy and Rick have that angry exchange in episode one, which was then never brought up again?
- Why doesn’t Chloe seem that upset that her new bestie just got shot in the chest?
- Actually, why do none of them seem that traumatised after a mass shooting?
- Also, what was with those mean security guards?
- Why didn’t Lochlan wash the blender before using it?
- Again: why didn’t Lochlan wash the blender before using it?
- Why didn’t the others feel even slightly weird after sipping their death-a coladas?
- What was the point in learning about Greg’s sexual childhood trauma?
- What was Chloe’s whole deal anyway?
- Is being a “people pleaser” really an adequate reason to get your own brother off?
- These people just witnessed a serious crime. Why aren’t they having to stay back for police questioning?
- So I guess Tim asked for the phones back after all?
- What was the point in the whole robbery side of things?
- If Greg was so afraid of being caught, why was he hanging around another White Lotus resort anyway?
- Why was Rick so chill about staying at the hotel after coming for the owner like that?
- Why do we see Zion get into the water in episode one, but then there’s no sign of him in the finale?
- Why didn’t Rick’s dad mention the “I’m your dad” thing sooner?
- Why did Rick randomly free a load of snakes and then it was never mentioned again?
- So, is Belinda going to open that spa at all or…?
